An Opportunity for New Music. This year I am starting a new project geared toward promoting new repertoire for trumpet. This year we are looking for composers who have taken a break from their career and dissertation, are just getting back into making new music. The International Trombone Festival announces a new Composer’s Workshop for composers interested in writing for trombone in the 21st century — learning new techniques, interacting with performers and getting readings of expose, their music at qualitystage, the 2017 International Trombone Festival. The 3 selected teams will be accompanied in the development and production of their projects through phases of training and production that will take place in four steps: 1 – within the month of March 2017, a week-long workshop will be held in Venice with artists and masters, focusing on write, general themes in traditional and contemporary musical theatre, especially as they concern the relationship between text and music; 2 – by mid-April 2017, the teams must submit at least half of the score, the project for the stage production and the libretto.
